The hotel had been decorated to a very high standard but it was the service of all staff members from start to finish that stood out above everything else. From the moment we checked in, to all meal and drink experiences and the history tour conducted by Kat - just sublime. We visited for our 25th wedding anniversary and the hotel ensured that all aspects of our stay helped to celebrate this event in style. Could not have asked for more. Once in your room it was almost like you forgot the world outside as it was so beautifully quiet. The decoration and cleanliness throughout our stay enhanced our experience for sure

Unique and quirky. Room was really quiet. Nice touch to have free soft drinks in the mini bar. Bathroom was huge with a great powerful shower. Huge TV. The jail attraction was great, make sure you tell them you're staying at the hotel as you get a 40% discount on your ticket.

The hotel has been converted beautifully and feels incredibly welcoming the moment you walk in. The rooms (ours was a Double) are spacious and the bathroom was fabulous! With a lovely free standing bath tub and a very good sized walk in shower. There’s a nice gym, not huge, but has a decent selection of equipment. The Breakfast is very good and the hotel is dog friendly, as we took ours with us. Staff were helpful and knowledgeable, especially Natasha who was a credit to the hotel.

The room was super cozy and spotless. The bathroom was huge, with both a bathtub and a shower, plus a big mirror. The lighting was warm, and there was a large TV with AirPlay, which was really convenient. They always refilled the water by the bed, and the fridge had plenty of free flavored water. Breakfast in the morning was tasty with lots of options, and in the evening we enjoyed the hotel restaurant — the food was great and the atmosphere very comfortable. The staff were friendly, polite, and always happy to help.

We liked the fact that it was unusual and our 8 year old grandson loved that we stayed in a cell. Our bathroom was very nice, roomy with a stand alone bath and a shower. The room was lovely and clean and the soft drinks in the fridge were complimentary.

Location is ok, but not particularly near any major attractions or the coast. We stayed here particularly for the experience of staying in a prison. The bathroom and toiletries were exceptional. Having free soft drinks in the fridge was also a nice bonus. The air con was very good. The absolute star of the show was the deputy manager Wilson. He stepped in and personallly drove us to and from a restaurant (twice!) when our taxi didn’t show. Exceptional service.

Converting this imposing historic building into a luxury hotel has been superbly done having overcome considerable technical difficulties whilst conserving its original features. Our room consisted of three old prison cells converted into one room with excellent distribution. One cell is for sleeping, another is for relaxing and the other cell has been converted into a spacious luxury bathroom. We dined in the restaurant which is situated in the old prison chapel. The setting and lighting are perfect for that romantic dinner for 2. The meat dishes which we tried on the first night were superb however, the fish dishes on the second night were not so good. Breakfast, which is also served in the chapel, is excellent. The rooms retain their connection with history via a plaque on the wall showing a picture and the story of one of the former inmates – an interesting touch. Guests should not be put off by its imposing architecture or its former use. The Bodmin Jail is a very good hotel and well visiting for whatever reason.

My Husband and I had a fabulous stay! An amazing unique place, sympathetically restored with some original features left giving a nod to the Prisons past. The room was comfortable, clean with good quality linen, towels, bathrobes and toiletries.The breakfast was superb, nicely laid out and a good choice of continental and choice of cooked breakfasts. We had a nice evening meal in The Chapel, a good choice on the menu and the staff were very attentive.

The welcome from the staff was excellent , the room was clean but dusty in places . The tour was good & the guide brought it to life ( a little scary for children) , I did misunderstand and thought service and the tour were included in the cost , but not do do I had a £70.00 invoice on departure , which did affect my perception of the value . We all enjoyed a beautiful breakfast , do much choice , well cooked and served .the picture in the car park is intriguing and a talking point . The bathroom was very well done and spacious . It was very quiet throughout but didn’t seem very busy we thought . The fresh milk and drinks lovely. .slippers lovely real treat
